Senior medical officer Richard Chen and his colleagues at the Jet Park quarantine facility have helped nearly every case of Covid-19 from the Auckland August cluster (first published October 2020). In the lead-up to Christmas, New Zealand’s network of MIQ facilities were bursting at the seams with returnees, and spaces remain extremely limited until March. The briefing says the Ministry of Health s position is confirmed cases in the community should go to a quarantine facility, such as the Jet Park Hotel in Auckland, though there is a provision for cases to isolate at home in exceptional circumstances.
The 10 new cases are as follows:
One arrived on 4 December from Netherlands via Singapore. This person tested positive at routine testing around day 12.

Two arrived on 10 December from the United States. These people tested positive at routine testing around day 3.
