That massive Storm Hitting at this hour, but first tonight, the storm swirling inside President Trumps cabinet. President Trump Firing Secretary Of State Rex Tillerson, and doing so in a tweet. The president firing tillerson, then calling him several hours later from air force one. The president naming cia director mike pompeo as the new secretary of state. And look at the wall tonight. At the top there, tillerson fired. He was not the only one fired at the State Department today. The undersecretary of state, steve goldstein, who tweeted that tillerson did not know the firing was coming, he was then fired, too. In addition to all of the vacancies that already exist at the top of the State Department. And so, we begin tonight with abcs chief White House Correspondent jonathan karl. between iran and israel. and between groups like hezbollah. mounting concern around potential for those tensions to escalate more broadly. but no clear claim of responsibility just yet. still very much a question mark over who was behind the attack and of course the possible motive. tonight from tokyo, there s new information of what may have caused a japan airlines jet liner to collide with a coast guard. five people and the coast guard aircraft were killed. records showed that red warning lights embedded in the taxi lights, lights designed to stop pilots from taxiing onto runways. those lights were broken. japanese officials released a transcript of the communication just before the collision. first, take a look at this.
ghecial airliner sadly though for the coast guard plane with the five confirmed dead, you can bet there is going to be a deep investigation into how this happened. ainsley: they have been dealing with the earthquakes and then the tsunami. i know you have been reporting on that griff all happening in japan. steve: roof of the fuselage burned off. you can see the letters. the inside is so hot the paint is literally boiling off the side of the off the top of the airplane. these are extraordinary images. it looks like somebody had a drone out or something like that. or maybe it was from a nearby ainsley: i wonder how they got them off the plane, inflatable slides? steve: in a couple of the images you see very wide emergency slides have been deployed. jet liner like that. i would imagine, has six. one up front one in back and one in the middle. ainsley: you get off that plane as quickly as possible. steve: when it s on fire
russia s security service and was a defense minister of the donetsk people s republic in ukraine when the malaysian jet liner was shot down there in 2014. he was found guilty of mass murder in absentia by a dutch court for involvement in the incident, which he has never acknowledged. he is considered a war criminal in ukraine. he deems himself a russian ultra nationalist who feels the war should be prosecuted even more brutally. putin s grip on power was only recently challenged by the uprising of the wagner private military company and its boss yevgeny prigozhin. putin is trying to buy time as he considers what to do with wagner and prigozhin himself. putin hates the image that he s
