Down East moved to 9-2 on the season with a 4-2 win. Gavin Collyer, an above-slot high school 12th round pick in 2019, went 2 IP with 2 Ks and allowed just one hit, a home run. The Wood Ducks had just four hits a single and a double by Keyber Rodriguez and a pair of singles by Jayce Easley. Rodriguez was also hit by a pitch. Luisangel Acuna was hit by a pitch and walked. Dustin Harris was hit by a pitch twice, and Evan Carter was hit by a pitch twice and walked. Carter had two stolen bases and Easley had three.

Rangers sign six to minor league deals

The Texas Rangers announced today the signing of free agents Charlie Culberson, Tim Dillard, Elier Hernandez, Sal Mendez, Collin Wiles and Jesus Linarez to minor league deals.
The most significant player in this group is Culberson, who is also the only one of these six to get an invite to the major league training camp. Culberson was a supplemental first round draft pick of the San Francisco Giants all the way back in 2007. He had a cup of coffee with the Giants in 2012, then was traded to the Colorado Rockies for Marco Scutaro. Culberson spent time in the majors with the Rockies in 2013 and 2014, then missed 2015 with a back injury. He was released, signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, spent a little time with them in the majors in 2016 and 2017, was sent to Atlanta in the Matt Kemp trade, and has been with the Atlanta Braves the past three seasons, though he only had 7 plate appear
Texas Rangers sign Charlie Culberson to minor league deal
ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers signed utility player Charlie Culberson to a minor league deal Monday and invited the veteran to big league spring training.
The 31-year-old Culberson played for Atlanta the past three seasons. He batted .143 in nine games during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, was designated for assignment in September and rejoined the Braves as part of their postseason roster before becoming a free agent after the season.
Culberson is a career .249 hitter with 23 homers in 427 games over eight seasons. He is versatile defensively, with experience at every position except catcher and center field.

Arlington, Texas The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed free agent INF-OF Charlie Culberson to a 2021 minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Culberson, 31, saw action in 9 regular season games for Atlanta in 2020, batting .143 (1-7) with no home runs and one RBI. He was also on the Braves roster for all three rounds in the club s postseason run, going a combined 2-for-3 in 3 games. He entered last season on a minor league deal with Atlanta and had his contract selected on July 21 before the start of the abbreviated campaign. He was designated for assignment on September 8 and assigned outright to the Alternate Training Site on September 10 before his contract was selected again ahead of the playoffs on September 29.
