Councilors continued the debate without coming to a solid answer during a Wednesday meeting. Councilors went on tangents as separate ideas came forward, leading to some frustration and confusion. It was eventually voted to have a facilitator lead another workshop to stop any off-the-rails conversations. “I think more, at this point, you need to get down to basics,” City Attorney Derek Rooney told the council. “Maybe, perhaps, to take some of the personalities out of it, I would recommend a meeting facilitator to help you discuss these ideas.” One matter was clear cut despite the cacophony of opinions: The waterfront should stay open to the residents.

Fireworks will fill Fourth of July skies in Bonita Springs

Fireworks will fill Fourth of July skies in Bonita Springs A fireworks and laser show will fill the Fourth of July skies over Bonita Springs after City Council voted to have “real fireworks” this year. City staff is working on the specifics, but Councilor Jesse Purdon wants the annual show back in Riverside Park in the downtown area. He submitted the idea to have a fireworks show to universal councilor praise. “We need to keep moving forward and get back to the way it was before, and the first step to that would be for us to approve, conceptually, the idea of going back to live fireworks,” Purdon said.
