With infections soaring to record-breaking heights, Chicagoans "have to do everything that they can to make sure that they protect themselves," Mayor Lori Lightfoot said.
"Our key message here continues to be: get the vaccine, and if vaccinated and eligible, get the booster," Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said.
Thursday’s caseload is nearly twice as high as any other day over the past 10 months. Officials say it’s critical for more residents to get vaccinated.
