JUNCTION CITY - Jess Thurmon stroked a two-out, bases-loaded double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Junction City to a 5-2 win over Crossett Tuesday.
JUNCTION CITY - Junction City opened the softball season Monday with an 11-1 win over Smackover. Sophomore Karla Castillo pitched a three-hitter and also drove in a pair of runs in the victory.
Junction City graduated three seniors off last year’s team that advanced to the 2A State Tournament. That included pitcher Tori McLelland, who had 16 strikeouts in the 2-1 win over Foreman in the regional tournament.
Junction City coach Jay Burroughs returns four senior starters and a talented crop of sophomores this season. But the holes to fill are large, including in the circle.
