Legendary vocalist, Jese Mucunabitu who is one of Fiji’s greatest singers and entertainers of all time was finally laid to rest today at Natila near his residence along Logani-Sebi road in Tailevu.
The FMF gymnasium this morning was packed with mourners from all walks of life to pay their last respects to one of Fiji’s iconic singers.
Heartfelt eulogies were delivered at the home going service which was attended by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Timoci Taniela, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, Ratu Tu’uakitau Cokanauto and his brother Ratu Keni Vuiyasawa.

Fiji’s legendary singer, Jese Mucunabitu was laid to rest today.
Eulogies were presented by representatives of the chiefly island of Bau, Fiji Performing Rights Association, family members overseas, and Tiko Eastgate - the founder of Tiko’s Floating Restaurant where the late Mucunabitu used to entertain.
The late Mucunabitu’s casket was taken to Tiko’s Floating Restaurant in Suva and the Nausori Market for the final farewell, before it was taken for burial at his farm in Logani-sebi in Tailevu.

Fiji s iconic musician and songwriter, Jese Mucunabitu passed away this morning at the CWM Hospital after a prolonged illness.
This has been confirmed by his wife Esiteri Rokovakacegu.
Mucunabitu sang some memorable songs like Fascinating Fiji, Tropical Dawn, Lomaloma and My Taveuni. Many people will never forget Jese serenading them at the famous Tiko’s Restaurant.
Rokovakacegu says Jese was a loving father who always put his family first.
She adds most of the time he travelled overseas promoting Fiji to the world and he also played in many private parties and functions in the country.
