Deputies shoot, kill knife-wielding man in his vehicle outside Lucerne Valley gas station Victorville Daily Press Deputies shot and killed a man who was reportedly brandishing a knife early Friday morning after authorities said he backed his car into a patrol vehicle at a gas station in Lucerne Valley. The San Bernardino County Sheriff s Department only identified the man as a 65-year-old Big Bear resident. On Saturday, sheriff’s spokesperson Jodi Miller said the coroner’s division was having difficulty locating his next of kin. Deputies responded to the Sinclair gas station at 32787 Highway 18 shortly before 5:30 a.m. Friday after receiving an emergency call from an employee. Authorities said the employee told them the man parked his vehicle in front of the store and brandished the knife at her.
