HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kaiya Mack just celebrated her eighth birthday. The energetic Oahu youngster who sings and dances has overcome a lot of adversity in her young life.
“I was born with gastroschisis, which is a sickness. So your intestines are on the outside of your body. I was staying in the hospital for four months of my life,” she said.

7-year-old Kaiya Mack, from Hawaii premiered her new song on YouTube this past weekend for a worthy cause. The recovering star is on a mission to raise funds for the
Ronald McDonald House Charities Hawaii. Her aim is to reach the goal of $10,000 to help children and families in need. This hearty gesture
is a token of her appreciation for the medical care and services herself and her family received when she was ill. Kaiya was born with a rare birth defect called Gastroschisis. The abdominal condition caused her intestines to be outside of her body and she faced life threatening challenges from birth. Ronald McDonald granted little Kaiya a four month stay at the NICU where she would get the care and medical attention she needed, to become a normal child. She has had several surgeries over the years which is even more than her age. Her latest operation was once again at the Ronald McDonald in 2019.
