London-based Abbey Road Studios and audio equipment manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins announced in a statement they’re taking their partnership to another level and plan to revolutionize together the automotive entertainment industry.
The two brands, which started their collaboration in 2018, plan to combine their expertise and improve the listening experience offered by in-car audio systems. The goal is to offer the most accurate and high-quality acoustics, but also create an authentic listening experience as close as possible to the original recording.
The Bowers & Wilkins audio systems are a preferred choice for car makers such as BMW, Volvo, or McLaren. Take for instance the 3D Surround Sound System installed in the 2020 BMW X6 or the 12-speaker setup in the McLaren 765LT, to give just a few examples. The company also specializes in loudspeaker hardware.

London’s Abbey Road Studios and audio manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins have extended their partnership to enhance the in-car audio experience.
The idea is to use B&W’s cutting edge loudspeaker technology to bring Abbey Road’s unique acoustic personality to in-car listening for the first time.
B&W’s automotive partners include BMW, McLaren and Volvo.
“We are delighted to be extending the remit of our partnership with Bowers & Wilkins to co-develop our offering in the automotive sector,” said Jeremy Huffelmann, General Manager, Abbey Road Studios. “Through our shared passion for creative excellence and the highest quality audio, we will be exploring technologies to further the goal of creating the most accurate listening experiences possible for consumers.”
