The catch is that this is under a nearly full or full moon. Two other showers also start on Friday, Jan. 1, the Gamma Velids, lasting until Friday, Jan. 15, with a peak of 2 per hour on Tuesday, Jan. 5. and the Delta Cancrids lasting until Sunday, Jan. 31, peaking Sunday, Jan. 17 at 3 per hour.
