Arkansas is ranked No. 1 after receiving nine first-place votes. The Razorbacks competed during the fall segment and closed it out with its eighth consecutive SEC Championship, winning the title by 16 points over runner-up Alabama, 41-57.
Lauren Gregory led Arkansas in fourth place.
BYU moved up one spot to No. 2. While the Cougars rested some of its top athletes due to a split in the schedule between indoor and cross country, they took the opportunity to show off their depth. BYU won the Silver State Collegiate Challenge by 15 points over Boise State, 46-61.

Although there are no Regional Championships contested this year to determine who automatically advances to the championship meet, the first edition of the rankings shows how things are playing out.
NOTE: Only those teams who have competed or have an intention to compete prior to the conclusion of the season are eligible for a regional ranking.
Michigan State women s cross country takes Big Ten title in 1st meet of the season
Michigan State women s cross country secured a second consecutive Big Ten Championship with the help of two top-five finishes from junior Jenna Magness and Senior India Johnson. The Spartans men s cross country team finished fourth, with sophomore James Uhlenberg being their lone top-ten finish at seventh.
Following the postponement of the 2020-21 fall sports season, the men and women s cross country teams competed in the Big Ten Championship on Saturday Jan. 30 in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Other teams that competed included Purdue, Indiana and Wisconsin. Due to the cancellation of all Michigan athletics, the Wolverines did not attend.

Michigan State put on a masterclass racing performance on Saturday in the Women’s 6K at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships in Shelbyville, Indiana.
The ninth-ranked Spartans, who entered the meet as the defending champion from 2019 and the top-ranked team in the field after No. 6 Michigan couldn’t compete, held steady through 3K and then attacked. Michigan State blitzed through the pack in the second half of the race on their way to a dominant 28-point victory over No. 12
Minnesota, 48-76.
