and we can make the connection. and new informs just coming in on the track of hurricane irene, as well. good morning to you, i m jon scott. jenna: hi everybody, i m jenna lee, we re here in the fox news room and happening now , we have big news from overseas and here, hurricane irene is a dangerous category three storm and headed for the bahamas after ripping through the carribean eye lawns. jon: that was a category one when the center blew through but it was strong enough to rip up waves, knock out power and unleash torrential rain and flooding. jen yuen first brush, haiti, dominican republic, folks in the mid atlantic of this country are now bracing for the worst, authorities are already ordering all visitors to one of north carolina s barrier islands out. with more evacuations to come, folks along the east coast are taking precaution, moving boats to drydocks and doing what they can to protect their homes. jon: it s always a struggle, i ll tell you. irene could be a
contracts with them and renegotiate them, find compromise or in the case of some states they re attempting to weaken the unions directly by changing the law. jen yuen is this an economic cycle? and i don t mean to be glib, but is it a point in our country when unions are out of vogue temporarily and they re going to come back stronger, or do you see this as a definitive game changer for the state of the union moving forward? well, it certainly seems to be a game changer but it s not clear yet which directionets go to go. this is the fir real aggressive attack on public sector unions we ve had since we began bargaining rights about 50 years ago, and it seems the general public is rallying behind the unions right now, which is what s pushing for that compromise in wisconsin, but it depends on how it all plays out. our unions could come out stronger and reenergized or it could be a short blip on the long term decline in unions. we re not really sure yet. jenna: what do you think
11-year-old sister, melanie, is the company s creative director. welcome ladies, great to have you today. thank you. jenna: melny and lily, why don t you take the lead, we talked about how you came up with the idea but how did you make it into a company? well, originally, we started pretty small, we ordered different lip balm bases and we literally cooked them up in the kitchen, we took a big pot and would try out different types and saw what we liked, didn t like, and we just literally started from scratch. and then from there, we just built it just built upon itself, honesty. jen that was years ago, when you were ten years ago. only about three years ago. melny, you re the creative director. what does a create creative director do? i come up with some names
you re going to balance the budget by cutting just 12 percent of the budget town to balance, it is literally, figuratively impossible. jenna: the gop making it clear the u.s. cannot keep wracking up debt and some saying something, if anything, needs to be stkpwhraoupb unfortunately we know republicans control one of one levers of law making, the democrats have the senate, the democrats have the white house, nobody wants to shut down the government, but one thing is nonnegotiable, as our speaker said, we will not that will not pass bills that to not create savings for the american people. skpwr epb jen carl kan iron is live on this story. it seems this different on time it s different. do lawmakers sound more skeptical than before the last time of this temporary fix? this time you ve gotand republicans alike expressing scep ti similar, this time around they are very, very apart. there have been five extensions that lawmakers have given themselves up to come up with a spend
essentially devoted to federal and state filing requirements. and the 1099, the new 1099 requirement, you know, one way to look at it, it s a 2700 percent increase in 1099 forms that i have to file, so yeah, it s more work, more labor, and in a way, more distraction from the real effort to grow my business. jenna: would it affect you hiring? to the extent that my business doesn t grow as much as i would like it to because we re diverted to this kind of evident, yeah, it would not allow me to hire people to support that group. jen yuen that s one of the complaints, of course, those that think this is the right thing to do say this is tax compliance and way to get more revenue. we ll see, tim, how they come together and maybe fix it, if both sides are
