CYR - Barbara Jean (McWha)

Barbara Jean (McWha) Cyr was born in Pouce Coupe, BC on February 17, 1930, the daughter of Clifford Ellis McWha and Cora Alma (Wallis) McWha. She received her education in Pouce Coupe and Dawson Creek, BC, graduating Grade 13 from Dawson Creek. Growing up, Barbara was considered a tomboy who would escape outside whenever possible. Knitting and counting stitches was not for her. She was known to bag a few rabbits with her .22. After graduating, Barbara started her career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Pouce Coupe.  Through the years she also worked in Winnipeg, MB and Yorkton, SK, where she retired. Barbara met Vic Cyr, who was a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp in Dawson Creek in 1954. They were married on September 22, 1954. The couple welcomed their daughter, Merrilee Erin in June, 1955. In 1957, the family was transferred to Winnipeg and their son, Richard was born in March, 1958. HALLDORSON - John Telford

John Telford Halldorson passed away on Sunday July 7, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with his daughter, Deb by his side. John Telford Halldorson was born February 14, 1941 on a farm near Kamsack, SK to Harry and Anne (nee Chernoff) Halldorson. John grew up on the family farm and attended school at The Prairie Queen School in Kamsack. After completing Grade 8 he worked many odd jobs as a labourer. He then gained employment with some seasonal work for the Department of National Resources (DNR). John attended school in Moose Jaw and Saskatoon where he achieved his Journeyman s Mechanic Certificate. Then from 1965 to 1968 he worked for International Harvester in Regina, and in 1968 he moved to Yorkton to work for the Department of Highways until he retired in 1996. John was united in Holy Matrimony to Florence (nee Barisoff) on October 9, 1965 in Kamsack. BASSMAN - Tyson

With sadness, the family of Tyson Bassman announce his sudden passing, following a lifelong battle with diabetes, on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, SK. He was 21 years of age. Tyson was born on September 29, 1993 in Regina, SK. The family moved to Yorkton in 2001 and he attended St. Michael s and Columbia Elementary Schools. He attended the Yorkton Regional High School, completing his Grade 11. His favourite subjects were auto body and art. In high school and after completing his education, Tyson worked at a variety of jobs including Zellers, Wal-Mart and Burger King. However, the two jobs that he most enjoyed were as a prep cook and cook at Joe Beeverz and at Value Village. He knew that the profits from Value Village went to the Canadian Diabetes Association and Tyson felt that by working there he was taking a stand against the disease.
