If you drive through Lower Jemseg, 66 kilometres east of Fredericton, you could easily miss a flight of old, moss-covered stairs leading up to a stone monument overlooking the St. John River. But Moncton historian and educator James Upham says this is a spot worthy of pulling over for a closer look.
No boat? No problem! Look inside for a peek at some of the river-dwelling birds, insects and plants in Gagetown-area wetlands, a type of habitat second only to rainforests in biodiversity.
No plans for removing decaying Jemseg Bridge anytime soon
The Jemseg Bridge is a crumbling behemoth, with a rebar skeleton starting to show as large chunks of concrete fall to the ground.
