WARREN A Warren man accused of targeting a Black family in a series of alleged hate crimes last fall will head to trial on May 26.
The date has been set before Judge Diane Druzinski in Macomb County Circuit Court, where Michael John Frederick Jr., 24, faces ethnic intimidation, felony malicious destruction of property and weapons charges related to three incidents over a four-night span in September.
Frederick is accused of shooting at vehicles parked at the home of Eddie and Candace Hall in a neighborhood near 11 Mile and Hoover roads on Sept. 7. The family is Black and had a “Black Lives Matter” sign in their front window. Two days later, he allegedly threw a brick through their window, slashed tires and left graffiti, including a swastika and the words “Black Lives Matter” and “Not Welcome” on their vehicles.
