(AP) Two sisters were killed in a hit-and-run crash on their way to a Florida grocery store, police said Sunday. Lt. Jeff Spears, a spokesman for the Palm Bay Police Department, said “their car was hit with such force that it essentially disintegrated. It rolled over several times.” Noemi Hammen, 61, and Maria Ramirez, 58, were turning into the grocery store Saturday night when a speeding car slammed into them, flipping their vehicle multiple times. One of the sisters was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at the hospital.

Jeff Spears, spokesman for the Palm Bay Police Department The crash happened about 8:30  p.m. in the 4700 block of Babcock Street at an entrance to Palm Bay Center plaza. A dark blue Chrysler 300 was seen heading north at a high rate of speed before striking a white Nissan driven by Hammen, who was turning into the Publix parking lot, police said.   The Nissan flipped multiple times, with portions of the vehicle peeling off before coming to a rest at the south end of the plaza. Both sisters were found inside the wrecked vehicle. One of the sisters was pronounced dead at the scene and the other rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she died.
