The women were identified as Noemi Hammen, 61, and Maria Ramirez, 58.
“Their car was hit with such force that it essentially disintegrated. It rolled over several times," said Lt. Jeff Spears, spokesman for the Palm Bay Police Department
The crash happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Babcock Street at an entrance to Palm Bay Center plaza. A dark blue Chrysler 300 was seen heading north at a high rate of speed before striking a white Nissan driven by Hammen, who was turning into the Publix parking lot, police said.
The Nissan flipped multiple times, with portions of the vehicle peeling off before coming to a rest at the south end of the plaza. Both sisters were found inside the wrecked vehicle. One of the sisters was pronounced dead at the scene and the other rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where she died.
