Tech developer Jeff Kim lived on the East Coast, in L.A. and in Chicago. As a teen, he recalls a friend with whom he thought he shared mutual understanding and respect. I saw him just passing by on the street and he said, Hey Jeff, my favorite Asian friend! Kim said. And I told him immediately, I said, Why can t I just be your favorite friend period. You know he just kind of laughed it off and it just always stuck with me.
EAST LIVERPOOL Terry Lee Smith, 64, of East Liverpool, passed away March 12, 2021.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 26, 1956, he was the son of the late Richard and Esta (Mercer) Smith.
Terry graduated in 1974 from East Liverpool High School. He was a horse trainer and formerly worked at Mountaineer Race Track. He was an avid Steeler and WVU fan.
Terry was a free spirit who lived his life doing what he loved.
He followed his dream of horses and went on to dedicate much of life to them. A horse trainer and farrier, he enjoyed the simple things in life, loved his family and was lucky enough to live a life doing exactly what he loved. He did more for others than for himself.

Two Momofuku Ssäm Bar alums have teamed up on an exciting, new tasting menu pop-up that’s running in the East Village through the end of this month. Nudibranch, located at 130 First Avenue, at St. Marks Place, is a collaboration between chefs Victor Xia and Jeff Kim, and the first solo project for the duo.
Kim and Xia met working at Ssäm Bar several years ago, and teamed up on Nudibranch last year to create a menu that paid homage to all the kitchens they’ve cooked in around the city as well as the food they love eating everyday. While the menu incorporates several Asian ingredients in various dishes, the chefs don’t want that to be the defining factor of the project. “We hate the term Asian fusion or pan-Asian,” says Xia. “That is how a lot of people just want to describe food like this. But if you look at the menu you won’t really be able to tie it down to any particular cuisine. Not having to label it is something we really enjoy.”
