Pharmacy license suspended for Wisconsin man accused of ruining vaccine
He hasn t been charged with a crime, with the Ozaukee County district attorney saying further testing needed to be done on the supposedly spoiled vials.
GRAFTON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board took action Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 13, voting unanimously to suspend the pharmacy license of Steven Brandenburg, 46, accused of purposefully sabotaging 500+ doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at Aurora Grafton. He’d formed this belief they were unsafe, Ozaukee County District Attorney Adam Gerol said during a virtual court hearing for Brandenburg, adding that Brandenburg was upset because he and his wife are divorcing, and an Aurora employee said Brandenburg had taken a gun to work twice.
Steven Brandenburg, 46, was working at Advocate Aurora Health in Grafton, Wisconsin, when he was arrested last month following an investigation into the 57 spoiled vials of the Moderna vaccine.

It s been a month since the first COVID-19 vaccine was authorized for emergency use in the U.S. At the time,
Dr. Jeff Bahr, who oversees medical group operations for Advocate Aurora Health system in Wisconsin, told NPR that he was optimistic about vaccine rollout.
As of Monday, more than 151,000 Wisconsinites had received their first dose of one of the two now-authorized vaccines, according to Wisconsin s Department of Health Services. That s out of about 267,000 doses already
shipped to the state.
On a national level, vaccinations fell short of initial expectations in the first weeks: Of about 25 million doses distributed, slightly more than one-third have been administered.
NPR's Mary Louise Kelly speaks with Jeff Bahr, chief medical group officer at Advocate Aurora Health in Wisconsin, about the rollout of COVID-19 vaccine in his state.
