A quiet suburban neighborhood turns into a crime scene after an unsupervised house party leads to a burglary, then a deadly stabbing. This happened in odin ton maryland, around 3 00 friday morning. Police tell us a 16yearold held a party at his home hours after it broke up. He heard someone in his house. Police say he confronted two men and ended up stabbing one. Right now there havent been any charges placed on the 16yearold and at the same time, the States Attorneys Office is still reviewing the case. Teen Allen Johnson faces burglary and assault charges. On a warm summer day in downtown Silver Spring Children Play and diners enjoy eating outside, all just steps away from Recruitment Centers for the armed forces. Already youre not protected going over there fighting and you mean to tell me just to go into a Recruitment Center now i have to worry about being protected . At the end of the day, its like how do you protect yourself when it comes to that or if somebody wants to attack anybody with the military . Reporter weapons are currently prohibited at these Silver Spring recruitment offices, but a nationwide recrew of the security of places like these is review of the security of places like these is now underway. Immediate post war era to today. This is about one hour and 15 minutes. Here we are for the last class this semester. Were going to move into the aftermath of the war, as you know. We spent all semester looking at various aspects of this conflict. Right from the beginning i alerted you one of the themes in this class was going to be the tension between history and memory. We talked about it on the first day of class. Have reiterated as weve gone along. Here we are finally at the end where were going to focus on memory for our last class. Theres no better event in the United States history to talk about how powerful contending memories of something that happened in the pass can be. Theres simply nothing remotely equal to it, i think, than the civil war. Passions get up quickly when people remember the civil war. Been watching that in charlottesville over the last year and a half in the debates over the statute the r. E. Lee downtown. Ill talk at the end, when i get to the war today, abo
