Workers share memories of Harrison hospital as many shift to St. Michael s new Silverdale location Austen Macalus, Kitsap Sun Replay Video BREMERTON Inside the old Harrison hospital in Bremerton, colorful handprints and personal messages adorned the first-floor wall last week as staff bid farewell to the historic building and all of its memories.  Jeff Peterson, a registered nurse, wrote down his years of service at the Bremerton hospital: 35 years, 10 months and 21 days. “And, of course, go Cubs!” he said.  Peterson also paid tribute to a friend and co-worker who passed away in 1996. “I hadn’t thought about him in some time,” Peterson said. “Writing his name and his birth and death date, and just a quick message on the wall, it was a little emotional.”

SILVERDALE  What does it take to move hundreds of patients from one hospital to another? A whole lot of logistics, a year’s worth of planning, and an armada of ambulances providing rides.  Those pieces came together Saturday morning as St. Michael Medical Center transferred patients from Bremerton to its new $500 million hospital in Silverdale  a massive operation to complete the hospital’s long-awaited move to Central Kitsap.
