SWEETWATER COUNTY According to Sweetwater County public health officials, the majority of recent COVID-19 positive cases are coming from unvaccinated Sweetwater County residents.
During a Sweetwater County COVID-19 Information meeting today between local health officials, business leaders, elected officials and media representatives, local health officials stated most of the COVID-19 positive cases in the county are coming from unvaccinated residents.
Dr. Jean Stachon said about 90 to 95 percent of all of the positive COVID-19 cases the county is currently seeing are coming from unvaccinated residents.

“It hasn’t gone away in our community,” Stachon said about the virus.

SWEETWATER COUNTY With around 24 percent of Sweetwater County’s total population receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, local health officials are still encouraging residents to continue receiving the vaccine.
During an informational COVID-19 meeting with local officials, industry personnel and media representatives, Sweetwater County Public Health officer Dr. Jean Stachon said vaccinations will be the key to keeping the COVID-19 virus under control.
“COVID’s not over,” Dr. Stachon said. “Our numbers and numbers across country’s are looking better than they were months ago. I think vaccination is where most of our emphasis is going on now to protect ourselves. Particularly, since a lot of the orders from the governor have been lifted.”
