Discover Minnesota takes you to a city that prides itself on its vibrant art scene.
Fergus Falls is of course known for the famed Kirkbride building, the 130-year-old former state hospital for people with developmental disabilities.
The city also boasts three breweries, a stretch of the four-thousand mile North Country Trail, and Otto, the world’s biggest Otter.
But you might now know about the arts scene in the city, including a new concert series started during the pandemic set against the backdrop of the Kirkbride.
Jean Bowman with Visit Fergus Falls says, “People come to a small community and they don’t expect to see all the fabulous art galleries, live performing theater, music, touring concerts.”
This is such a difficult time to lose someone: grieving and social distancing just do not work together, wrote the daughters of one victim who died in April.
According to the county s coroner, as of March 26, 2021, some 974 people had died of COVID-19 here since the pandemic took its first local life a year ago, on March 26, 2020.

Two Indicted in Death of Lockport Teenager

Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman announced that two Adolescent Offenders, as well as an adult, Jonathan Frey, were arraigned today on an Indictment in Niagara County Youth Part by the Honorable Diane Vitello. The defendants were charged in relation to the October 17, 2020 shooting in Lockport that resulted in injuries to five young people and the death of Cheyenne Farewell.
Each of the two youths were charged with Murder in the Second Degree, multiple counts of Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon charges.
