A coronial inquest has found a "litany of failings and shortcomings" in the management of an Indigenous man who died after an altercation with prison officers while in custody at Yatala Labour Prison.
The South Australian Deputy Coroner finds there were a "litany of serious failings and shortcomings" in how a first-time Aboriginal inmate was managed in the state's highest security prison and in police cells, where conditions were "barbaric and inhumane".
