Music, dancing, lantern-making and student connection took center stage during the 2022-2023 academic year. While annual events continued to grow, new traditions blazed a path for future students. Check out some of the biggest events from this school year:
The hair show took its audience on an educational journey through the history of natural hair. From Africa to the Caribbean to Latin America, cultural hairstyles paired with stunning visuals and popular songs had the crowd singing and dancing along.
“Black people are innovating in terms of their sense of self. We are no longer letting society define us,” Sydnae Becton, a fourth-year psychology major, said. “We are expressing ourselves in a beautiful and colorful way for future generations to come.”
