They have secured 1. 5 million from the state to pay for video camera Surveillance System that will be installed along i80 and highway 4, that announcement being made here in the main county building in downtown martinez. There will be 15 surveillance points along the freeways starting at cutting boulevard at i80 in richmond going along east to highway 4 in antioch. This will be a system of license plate readers, shot spotter microphones that can recognize gunfire and video cameras that can pan, tilt andsome into the direction of the violence. Since november of 2015, chp estimates that there have been 85 highway shootings in Contra Costa County, many gangrelated. Eight people have been killed and 21 people hurt at least.
