Since the onset of the pandemic, so many gems from the world of Urdu language and literature have been lost that I have now lost count. It was only last year that a few of us compiled a list of at least 75 Urdu writers and poets who had passed away. It included the likes of Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, Anand Mohan Zutshi âGulzar Dehlvi’, Rahat Indori, Mujtaba Hussain, Nusrat Zaheer and Asrar Jamayee. Notably, this list does not include any Urdu writers, poets, researchers and translators outside India.

The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir has welcomed Pakistan’s inclusion on sellers list of world’s largest e-commerce platform of Amazon, saying that it would be a milestone for the National e-Commerce Policy, benefitting the youth, women entrepreneurs and the SMEs in the country.
In a joint statement with vice chairman Javed Siddiqi, the PIAF Chairman said that the move also credited sustained engagement with Amazon since the last quarter of 2019 by the Ministry of Commerce, Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington and the Consulate General in Los Angeles for this success. He said Credit also goes to the Pakistani diaspora and its continuous dialogue with the business community and public sector stakeholders through the National e-Commerce Council (NECC).

The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir has stressed the need for reforming and simplifying the taxation system in consultation with the real stakeholders.
In a joint statement with vice chairman Javed Siddiqi, the PIAF Chairman said that the FBR’s reforms initiatives are not bearing fruit, as the revenue collecting agency could increase the number of sales tax return filers by just 8 percent in first six months of the current fiscal year, mainly due to rise in the type of those filers, who haven’t paid any tax, implying that bad governance and weak tax management of the tax department still persist. It is unfortunate that just 30 percent of the total sales tax return filers are paying taxes while 70 percent of the filers have paid nil tax, he said. He said that the government’s new measures seem to be inadequate to convince people to file tax returns due to arm-twisting by the FBR, creating unnecessary

The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front Chairman Mian Nauman Kabir on Sunday rejected the government’s plan of imposing additional taxes of billions of rupees in the upcoming federal budget 2021-22, besides withdrawing duties and tax exemption of about Rs360 billion, leading to a new wave of inflation in the country.
The PIAF Chairman, in a joint statement with vice chairman Javed Siddiqi, said that that the regular attempt of economic managers to impose new taxes and increasing oil prices along with the hike in power and gas tariffs will ultimately harm the government’s overall move of reducing the production cost for the businesses. He said that Pakistan is the most frequent customer of IMF and governments often depended on borrowing from donor agencies and accepted their stringent conditions despite the fact that these institutions are merciless money lenders which always forced Pakistan to adopt bad policies like new taxes in the budge
