The Waukegan man charged with murder in the shooting deaths of a Beach Park couple refused to leave his jail cell Monday to appear before a Lake County judge.
Timothy D. Triplett Jr., of the 2100 block of Georgetown Lane, was scheduled for an arraignment hearing where he would hear the charges and enter a plea.
A Lake County grand jury indicted the 34-year-old in the deaths of Carlos Rodas Perez, 52, and Mercedes Rodas, 49. They were found shot in their garage in December.
Lake County state s attorney s spokesman Jim Newton said Monday that Triplett was supposed to be taken from his cell to a booth in the jail where he could participate in the virtual hearing. But a court clerk informed the judge that Triplett had refused to leave his cell.
