The Waukegan man charged with murder in the shooting deaths of a Beach Park couple refused to leave his jail cell Monday to appear before a Lake County judge.
Timothy D. Triplett Jr., of the 2100 block of Georgetown Lane, was scheduled for an arraignment hearing where he would hear the charges and enter a plea.
A Lake County grand jury indicted the 34-year-old in the deaths of Carlos Rodas Perez, 52, and Mercedes Rodas, 49. They were found shot in their garage in December.
Lake County state's attorney's spokesman Jim Newton said Monday that Triplett was supposed to be taken from his cell to a booth in the jail where he could participate in the virtual hearing. But a court clerk informed the judge that Triplett had refused to leave his cell.
