Robyn Scott thought she wouldn t be able to get out of bed for a demonstration against police brutality on Saturday. The depression she s experienced since her son Melvin Murray died during a police chase was gripping her. She didn t think she could talk to a crowd of people in Roselawn about what happened. It hurts when you can t touch your child, when you can t hug your child, when you can t talk to your child. It hurts. I couldn t get out the bed . But I got the strength to get up because I was thinking about my child, she said, calling for the crowd to help take on police brutality and demand accountability.
Justice Served
Ohio s junior Senator Rob Portman said Floyd s death was tragic and should never happen to anyone in America. I am grateful today that justice appears to be served as we awaiting sentencing, he wrote on Twitter.

I am grateful today that justice appears to be served as we await sentencing.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said in a statement our system of justice worked. The jury members listened to both sides, weighed the evidence, and came to this verdict.
My thoughts are with George Floyd s family. While nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, this is a step towards accountability for his murder. We must make sure that our systems always recognize that Black lives matter.

There s no question Opening Day 2021 was a strange one. In addition to below-normal temperatures, there also were below-level crowds due to COVID-19 capacity limits. The Findlay Market Opening Day Parade was canceled for the second year in a row, but there were still plenty of crowds to be found.
Before the first pitch at 4:10 p.m., people gathered at The Banks, which had just recently been granted DORA status or Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area allowing people to carry open beverage containers, including alcohol, outside the grounds of restaurants and bars. Despite city leaders urging fans maintain social distancing and even putting some measures in place to encourage it, people largely stood should-to-shoulder and maskless before Great American Ball Park opened its gates.
