Zigbee goes to Mars: What is smart home tech doing on NASA’s latest mission? Watch Now
Have you been following the Perseverance rover that landed on Mars in February? It was fun to watch as the robot landed on the surface of Mars, ready to explore. And it s been even more mesmerizing to watch as videos with sound and pictures have made their way back to Earth. Part of the technology that makes the communication between the rover and NASA possible is Zigbee.
My
ZDNet Jason Squared co-host, Jason Cipriani, and I recently had the opportunity to interview Tobin Richardson, the CEO, and president of the Zigbee Alliance, about this project, as well as the future of the Zigbee wireless standard.

Take one look at the new Tula Mic, the debut product from Tula Microphones, and you can t help but feel nostalgic. The retro, yet futuristic, microphone has some serious 1950 s vibes. But instead of doing the bare minimum, the Tula Mic packs in a ton of features that are sure to come in handy, whether you re spending the day on Zoom or starting a podcast and want better audio than your webcam can capture.
The Tula Mic comes with a built in stand that rotates out from the back, and then folds up with magnets holding it in place when closed. Overall, the mic is about the size of a pack of cigarettes a conscious decision, according to David Brown, the founder of Tula Microphones.
AirPods Max review: They re pricey, but are they worth it? Watch Now

I m not going to do a full in-depth review of this product because I think there will be a ton of nitty-gritty analysis done by competing publications (such as CNET s excellent deep dive) and my Jason Squared co-host Jason Cipriani. But I ve spent now two days using this very controversial piece of Apple hardware, and I felt it was important that we separate the facts from all the hype and rage generated by this product.
