Plans by Living Space to move much of its operations to a new location on Spruce Street South is getting some pushback from residents who don’t want a facility accommodating the homeless in their neighbourhood.

Living Space will be expanding to a second location at 316 Spruce St. S. beginning in May 2021.

The plan is to move Living Space’s existing operations to the Spruce Street South location while the Cedar Street North location will be “re-purposed to meet the community’s need for single, transitional, and supportive housing models,” the organization stated in a release Friday.
“The transfer of operations will be completed in phases, with administrative offices being the first to change locations in May and guest programming (emergency shelter, health services, outreach) tentatively becoming operational at the new location in October 2021.”
