A pair of segments from the high-profile Coastal Rail Trail project running through Santa Cruz's Mid County region are in limbo after the county Board of Supervisors rejected a majority of recommendations from its staff to move the project forward at its meeting Tuesday.
The California Public Utilities Commission is reviewing an application from AT&T California that would allow the telecommunications giant to be relieved of its decades-old obligation to provide landline service in many regions across the state, including large swaths of Santa Cruz County.
According to the weather service's Climate Prediction Center, there is a 33% to 40% chance that precipitation totals will be above normal in February for the Santa Cruz County region.
