Cohasset residents may see an uptick on their water bills later this year. A proposal is before the Town to raise water rates by 2.5% per year each of the next five years. The rate increase comes after the conclusion of a recent study conducted jointly by members of the Water Department, Department of Public Works, and Finance Department. The study found that while the debt incurred by the Water Department is decreasing over time, the cost of operation is rising. Additionally, said Jason Federico of the Cohasset DPW, upcoming capital projects are contributing for a need for service fee increases.
