On Saturday, June 4, there will be 13 seats across 10 boards and committees up for grabs at Cohasset’s Annual Town Election.
As has been a theme in recent years in Cohasset, however, many of those seats will be run for by uncontested candidates.
Residents will see competition on their ballots in just two races: one for the open seat on the Select Board, and one between four candidates vying for three seats on the Paul Pratt Memorial Library Board of Trustees.
The higher profile of the two races will feature incumbent Selectman Paul Schubert running against challenger Jean Healey-Dippold to retain his seat on the Board.
Cohasset residents may see an uptick on their water bills later this year.
A proposal is before the Town to raise water rates by 2.5% per year each of the next five years.
The rate increase comes after the conclusion of a recent study conducted jointly by members of the Water Department, Department of Public Works, and Finance Department.
The study found that while the debt incurred by the Water Department is decreasing over time, the cost of operation is rising.
Additionally, said Jason Federico of the Cohasset DPW, upcoming capital projects are contributing for a need for service fee increases.
