Weeks. Reporter they say he wasnt feeling well on christmas. At 44 years old and in good health he thought he could ride it out. Fever, feeling like the typical flu that everybody gets that lasts a couple of days. And so, you know, he was in bed with the flu. As far as he knew the fever and feeling altogether bad. Reporter his wife says she finally convinced him to see a doctor who detected pneumonia, gave him antibiotics and certainty him home. Four days later he went to the hospital. He seemed to be getting worse. He started coughing. He had a coughing fit and was turning blue. And the nurses are running in trying to intubate him. Reporter barbeau, who worked in i. T. Went into a medicallyinduced coma eight days after first feeling sick. He would never regain consciousness. He was transferred here to California Pacific Medical Center where he stayed on life support for three weeks but the damage the flu did to his lungs was too much to overcome.
