La Vergne Police Department will welcome a new four-legged member to the force soon.
Turbo, an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois, has been selected to serve in the K-9 unit of LPD alongside Officer Justin Darby.
“We think Turbo will be a great addition to the La Vergne Police Department,” says Interim Police Chief Chip Davis. “It’s important for our department to have good, reliable working K-9s that can help us keep the city and its residents safe.”
Darby chose Turbo after visiting U.S. K-9 Unlimited in Abbeville, Louisiana, to spend time with dogs who are in training to serve as K-9 officers. The LDP officer is expected to return to the training facility in early April to conduct two weeks of hands-on training with Turbo before bringing him home.
