The public hearing opened at the Monday, Nov. 20, meeting was continued until Tuesday due to the need to have a supermajority of the Willmar City Council to approve street improvement projects, and the absence of Councilors Tom Butterfield and Michael O'Brien last week.
The first public hearing is related to the sale of land in the Willmar Industrial Park to Duininck Concrete and the second is related to the 2024 street improvement projects.
Residents who live within the street improvement areas should attend the open house to ask questions regarding the improvement taking place in their area, as well as get an idea of how much they will be assessed for the projects.
The Willmar City Council on Monday approved deviating from its assessment policy for two property owners who objected to their assessments for the 2023 street improvements.
Objectors included caretakers for two cemeteries, one of which was assessed $82,181 and the other assessed $26,170. The Willmar City Council approved adopting the remainder of the assessment roll after closing the public hearing.
