NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Tulane (1-1) fell 9-8 to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (1-1) on Saturday inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium to snap the Wave’s 10-game winning streak dating back to last season.
For the second straight game Tulane went to extra innings, but this time they weren’t able to come away with the victory. In a game that saw six lead changes and 14 pitchers between the two teams, it was the defensive errors that hurt the Wave in the end.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Luis Aviles’ walk-off single and Braden Olthoff’s solid outing led the Tulane University baseball team (1-0) to a 3-2 victory over the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (0-1) in Friday’s opening day matchup inside Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
With the Ragin’ Cajuns leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 10th, the Green Wave took three walks to load the bases. With two outs, DH Luis Aviles ripped a 1-1 pitch into left that scored junior Jared Hart scored from third and sophomore Ethan Groff came in from second to score the winning run.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team opened the 2021 season on the road.
The Tulane Green Wave defeated the Ragin’ Cajuns 3-2 in a 10-inning affair.
It was a two-run single from Tulane’s Luis Aviles that sealed the win.
How It Happened:
Hayden Durke got the start at the mound for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Durke went five innings and allowed one hit with five strikeouts. He did not give up a run in his time.
It was a pitching duel between Durke and Tulane’s Braden Olthoff. Olthoff struck out seven batters in 5.1 innings pitched.
The first score of the game came in the top of the seventh inning. Ragin’ Cajuns’ Connor Kimple homered to left field to put Louisiana up 1-0.

Roughly half of San Jose residents surveyed in a new poll oppose an initiative to boost the number of homes allowed in single-family neighborhoods.
According to initial survey results, 48% of San Jose residents are opposed to Opportunity Housing, while 24% of residents support the initiative. Roughly a quarter of residents polled said they need more information, according to the survey.
