The month of May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the U.S. on May 7, 1843 and to recognize the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869 by Chinese immigrants who laid most of the track.
“I’m really happy about [the food festival],” IBUS Club President Christian Wilgis said. “A little worried [we were] going to run out of food.” On April 13, the IBUS hosted its International Food Festival to showcase different clubs’ food and culture.
