[whistling] it s good to be with you. i m i i m chris jansing in for katy tur. we are live in highland park, illinois. we are just down the street where a gunman took the lives of six people at the fourth of july parade. there is a lot of activity here. you can still see the police tape. just about 90 minutes ago, we got a lot of information about the suspect, a 21-year-old who lived just a few minutes from here. police now say he had been planning yesterday s attack for weeks before climbing on to a roof at the start of the parade and firing into a crowd. police say their investigation shows he ultimately fired more than 70 rounds and just about an hour ago, we also learned this, that during the attack, he was dressed in womens clothing in an attempt to escape the scene undetected
when one fundamental right is lost, that means all fundamental rights are at risk. i will speak to mr. obergefell in just a moment. some democrats are pressing the representatives to codify presidents like obergefell in the law. a move democrats failed to pursue with roe, so today, house nancy speaker, nancy pelosi, released a statement seemingly in response to those calls. she said, in part, in the wake of the supreme court s outrageous and heart wrenching decision of overturning roe versus wade, radical republicans have made clear that they are just setting their sights on other protections rooted in the constitutional right to privacy. house democrats are committed to standing against this ruthless assault on the rights of millions of lgbtq americans. but what that comment means and practice, well, that still remains to be seen. joining me now, jim obergefell himself. civil rights activists and current candidate for the ohio state hearts of representatives and the former
subpoenaed the secret service over there missing text messages from january 6th and the day before. and today, all nine january six committee members met with the dhs inspector general. their focus, trying to retrieve that missing information. it s obviously an alarming thing to learn that there were secret service text messages from january 6th itself and the day before that were deleted as part of a device replacement program. we don t know what the facts are and we are going to get to the fact that as to why that happened and we will do everything we can to retrieve the substance of those texts. and earlier today, the panel made it official. thursday, 8 pm eastern, we will be their next hearing. that is when they will reveal when trump was and was not doing when his supporters were riding in the capital. the committee is keeping the possibility of future hearings still open and one panel member says that this thing is far from over. we are far from wrapping up our wo
