By most objective measures, Give Grandly! is once again shaping up to be a resounding success for area nonprofits and it’s not too late to help make an even bigger splash.
After a record year in 2020, when total funds raised more than doubled from the previous year, as of Sunday morning this year’s totals had already outpaced those previous years as well. SILVER CITY - The Give Grandly Coalition, with the support of the Grant County Community Foundation, has launched the eighth annual Give Grandly marathon fundraiser for area nonprofits.
On Saturday, May 8, the community will have the chance to give back to 58 organizations that do so much to improve the quality of life in Grant, Luna, Catron and Hidalgo counties. These groups run food pantries and shelters; rescue animals; provide activities for children; promote literacy and art; support libraries, museums, schools and the university; grant scholarships; foster economic development; advocate for the environment; maintain trails; preserve historical and archeological sites; and organize community festivals, plays, concerts, lectures, field trips to name just some of the things they do for the community.

A local philanthropic group, The 30-Something, is seeking new members and new projects to fund this summer.
The original 30 philanthropists, led by Janey Katz, contributed $1,000 each and donated the total a $30,000 fortune to a single cause. That first year, it was the Virus Theater, which needed an HVAC system so their El Sol Theatre could be habitable. But the group had bigger dreams in their future than a single annual award, with so many great projects being proposed.
