restaurants in the last week alone. george kiriyama joins us live tonight. george, were there customers inside? reporter: there were customers in the round table and another pizza joint in sunny veil. but they re looking at the businesses themselves. they see a pattern, the police do. two robbers going after pizza restaurants. the latest one here at this round table in fremont. one of them appears to be using a tech 9 automatic handgun. he jumped straight over the counter and one of my employees was washing dishes. reporter: he didn t believe his restaurant was robbed last friday night. i m just more disturbed that it happened in our area, and to my place. reporter: 25 people were watching college football at the bar, but the robber went straight to his brother. he walked right by with the gun. at that point everybody just fled the scene. reporter: police believe these two men hit a domino s pizza a few blocks away about ten minutes before robbing tasty subs. th
i m janell wang. and i m raj mathai. we ll get to the latest on that massive power outage in a moment, but we get to the terror threat. police are stepping up patrols in new york and washington, d.c. after learning of a planned attack to coincide with the 9/11 anniversary. here s what we know. counterterrorism officials say it s a credible threat. the target, bridges or tunnels. we re also learning that at least three people who recently entered the united states are under investigation. let s bring in our nbc bay area s jessica aguirre who is on assignment in new york city. jessica, we knew in the back of our minds this was a possibility, and now it s a reality. how are they handling it where you are now? here in new york, raj, they re handling it as they have every 9/11 anniversary, but being very proactive and vigilant. the tower you see behind me is one world trade center, which is under construction. new yorkers say it is the most visible symbol of the comeback here
and also michelle s family, as well. reporter: patty says she s known the family for 21 years and is in shock that the young girl she s seen grow up is facing murder charges. they re very nice people, and this is going to be quite a hard thing for them to deal with. i can t even imagine what they must be going through. reporter: police were seen taking evidence from her condo in union city hours after she was arrested for murder wednesday morning. it s been almost 12 weeks and police say even though they have le s dna evidence on a sneaker, and video surveillance of her in the parking lot where le was last seen, police wanted to be sure before they made an arrest. we did not want to rush to judgment or fail to turn over every possible piece of evidence. reporter: and we found out that the evidence was compelling. cell phone records and cell tower activations show that michelle s phone and estobon s. reporter: then there s the matter of a motive. her ex-boyfriend
officers are describing the teenage girl as being four feet tall, 85 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing her school uniform, a white polo shirt and blue skirt. the suspect is a 34-year-old marcello ramirez, last seen driving a white honda odyssey with that plate number. the car he s in has rear tinted windows and a coast auto insurance sticker on the rear window. we don t know what the relationship is between the two, but if you see the car or see them, you re urged to call authorities. now to the skating report of pg&e. today s report makes one thing clear, they need to make some changes or a san bruno explosion would happen in almost any neighborhood. the report was scathing and blunt saying it began decades ago with the installation of what s referred to as a woefully inadequate pipe. finally, it wasn t a question of if this pipe would burst but when. vicky nguyen was at the hearing in washington, d.c. and has the full report. reporter: good even
and at one point he fired at cars on 580 which led to the freeway closure. let s go live to cheryl hurd with the latest. cheryl? reporter: police are waiting out the situation. a few moments ago i saw s.w.a.t. team members circling the member. a suspect wanted in a stabbing and shooting remains holed up in a hotel, a section of the 580 is closed and could affect your morning commute. the bridge is open tonight after police closed it today when the suspect allegedly fired a shot across the bridge. s.w.a.t. officering continue to surround the hotel where the armed suspect claims he has his girlfriend held up there. we have surveillance pictures of the man, taken sunday at the united market on 3rd street. he was involved in a shoplifting incident that turned into a stabbing. when officers tracked the suspect s location to the hotel at 8:30 this morning, he barricaded himself inside. we came back after dropping some supplies off and they said you can no longer go back into yo
