Broken road to the zoo
July 16, 2021
The Chitral Gol National Park holds great significance in Chitral. The national park is home to rare species like Kashmir markhor, ibex, snow leopard, lynx, ram chakor (partridge), pheasant, and a large variety of birds, and it also offers mesmerising and scenic landscape to visitors. Local and foreign tourists visit the park throughout the year in large numbers. However, the road that leads to the park is in a dilapidated condition. Unregulated local construction and encroachment, landslides, and poor water drainage systems have turned the road into a nuisance. Tourists find it nearly impossible to travel on the road especially at rush hour. The authorities haven’t carried out repair work to date.
