The Deputy Commissioner also visited PHC Bishnah which is a dedicated Covid hospital and reviewed the level of preparedness to deal with the surge in Covid-19 cases.

Door-to-door COVID tracing exercise starts in Jammu: DM Anshul Garg JAMMU: A massive door-to-door exercise was started across Jammu on Tuesday to ‘trace and isolate’ probable COVID-19 positive patients as part of the ongoing efforts to contain the pandemic, officials said. Jammu district tops the COVID fatality chart with a total of 686 deaths till Monday evening with over 300 of the patients succumbing to the infection in the past three weeks. The district has 7,630 active cases, which is also the second highest in the entire Jammu and Kashmir. Seeking cooperation of the people to the drive, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Anshul Garg said it is an attempt to reach out to each of the 4.5 lakh households in the district in the next four days to trace and isolate probable positive patients, promote COVID-19 SoPs and lend a helping hand.

As usual, Jammu region continued to account for maximum deaths in the Union Territory reporting 41 fatalities and 1708 positive cases. Among 41 COVID fatalities, 14 were women while seven persons were aged between 30-45 years. Nearly 60 percent deaths were purely related to Coronavirus as the victims had no co-morbidities. The highest 28 casualties took place in Jammu district, six Udhampur, three each Samba and Kathua and one in Rajouri.

Out of 39 Corona casualties in Jammu region, 31 were reported in Jammu district, two each Udhampur, Kathua and Rajouri and one each in Samba and Reasi districts. Seventeen of the dead were women. Four persons succumbed to the virus at home and were later shifted to hospital. A 93-year-old man from Anand Nagar Talab Tillo, 70-year-old from Rajpura Mangotrian, 62-year-old from Subash Nagar and 46-year-old from Canal Road, all in Jammu district, died of Coronavirus at home.

Jammu region accounted for 42 fatalities in a day and 1529 cases. Among the dead were senior KAS officer and Special Secretary Finance Dr Shamim Ahmad Wani (who tested negative for the virus just two days before his death after remaining positive for over a fortnight), brother of former Minister, who too had died of pathogen, a 17-year-old girl from Mirpur Kathua and a 26-year-old youth of Rehari. Third woman member of a family from Jhangar Nowshera in Rajouri district succumbed to the virus during last two days.
