Town midfielder Jim Magilton is to undergo operations on both legs in the summer to rid him of possibly career threatening injury problems. The Northern Irishman has had injury problems all season and now the full extent of these is coming to light.
TWTD understands that Italian keeper Matteo Sereni may return to the Town line-up for tonight s crucial bottom of the table clash at Blackburn. Sereni has been out of the side since asking for a rest at Dagenham and Redbridge in January.
Despite a second half fightback it ended a black night for Town s black clad men, with George Burley suffering his 100th league defeat as Ipswich manager. A disappointing first half saw Blackburn two-up, but a much improved second half saw Marcus Stewart get back into scoring action, but it wasn t enough to get Town a valuable point.
Town will see themselves as very unfortunate to have come out of this game without even a point. Despite rarely playing at their best the Blues were the better side for most of the game. Town went ahead through Alun Armstrong halfway through the first half, but two Julian Joachim goals in the second half gave Villa the three points.
