TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Sophomore Jackson Baumeister struck out a career-high 14 batters Thursday as Florida State snapped its losing streak with a 5-1 win over Clemson at Dick Howser Stadium. At the plate, the Seminoles got three RBI from Jaime Ferrer – who extended his hitting streak to 20 games – and a solo home run from James Tibbs III. Baumeister, making his eighth start of the season, struck out the side to begin the game and had at least one strikeout in all seven innings pitched. Along with his 14 strikeouts, his 7.0 innings pitched and 110 pitches were also career bests. Baumeister has now accounted for two of FSU’s three wins by a starting pitcher this season. After DeAmez Ross singled against Austin Gordon to start the game, Ferrer hit his fifth home run of the season on the first pitch he saw. Ferrer added an RBI single in the third inning that also scored Ross. Ferrer’s 20-game hitting streak is tied for the 17th-longest in school history, and the longest
