The Toll Authority says if it, indeed, decides to open up the bay bridge in late september, they say the temporary fix is ready and would only take a few days. The longawaited opening of the new eastern span had been planned for labor day. Labor day has been the goal for two and a half years. Whether or not that goal is met or not is dependent on decisions that will be met later this week. Reporter a letter sent last week gives the Program Oversight Committee Approval to go ahead with a temporary fix for the cracked bolts.
