I decided to begin the 2020 camping season with a trip to Wakami Lake Provincial Park. I found the park while scouring a map in 2019 and was drawn to its location and its remoteness. When I found out they offered a few backcountry sites, I was sold.
I set out on July 1, eager for the drive and excited to spend Canada Day camping in the northern backcountry. Wakami Lake Provincial Park is about three hours from Greater Sudbury, down the Sultan Industrial Road to Highway 667. It lies between Lake Biscotasi and Highway 129 (itself a very pretty drive), about 68 km from Chapleau. I was excited for wildlife sightings I thought for sure I would see a moose or at least a fox on the Sultan road but alas, the only animals I spotted were the dead bugs splattered across my windshield.
Industry 13 will be opening its doors for the first time on January 1. It will be situated on Roose Road, and replaces the building formerly occupied by HI-Q Tyres.
BEFORE: The building was formerly used by HI-Q Tyres. Liam Harrison, former captain at Barrow Raiders, is one of five people behind the new establishment. He is joined by gym manager James Howden, James Carberry, Mike Lewis and Greg Crabtree. The gym hosted an open day for prospective new member last Sunday and Mr Howden revealed that many people have already signed up ahead of its January opening. He said:“There has been a huge amount of support from the community already and were overwhelmed by the amount of people who have joined already.”
